At 9 am on the morning of September 26th, the first shots 2022/2023 International School Golf Tour, sailed down the fairway at Chee Chan Golf Resort in Pattaya, TH.  On the 13th& 14th of May, after 11 more events, at some of the top courses throughout the Kingdom of Thailand, the participation of over 400 student golfers, over 1000 rounds played and 101,668 golf shots taken; the season concluded.  It ended just down the road from where it began, at Phoenix Gold Country Club. Each event, every player, every round and yes, all 101,668 shots mattered.  The championship was decided by the final putt of the season American School Bangkok needed a par on the last hole to win and Ben Hamilton in the U13 division provided it with American School Bangkok emerged victorious overWellington School Bangkok in the narrowest of margins, in the Team Gross Championship.

The tour has come a long way in just a couple of years and with many new schools and young kids coming through it will only get stronger next season.

The courses are the best you can play in Bangkok and Fore Management do a great job in running the events.  ASB was glad to come out on top and we look forward to another great season in 2023/24. Well done to all involved” … James, Coach ASB

In the Nett School Team championship, Shrewsbury International School come out on top, a team on youngsters with great potential they certainly will be looking to compete in the gross championship in the coming years.

After a long, competitive season competing at 11 events, I am extremely proud of our exceptional golf team for not only their individual performances but their collective win of the Overall Team Nett Winners for 2022/23. Students have shown fantastic commitment to their golf games all year and have performed incredibly well! It has been the most successful season for Shrewsbury Riverside and I’d like to thank Chris and the FORE Management team for the outstanding opportunities they have provided for our golfers this year.”  Jason Bilinkewycz, Head of You-Time & Performance Leader of Golf, Shrewsbury Riverside.

We would like to extend a well-deserved congratulations to the our 2022-2023 Tour Champion teams, but also to each and every team that made this season the success that is was.

While this opening paragraph was certainly written with intent of reeling you in.  It could never describe exactly how amazing this season was.  To see the dedication amongst not only the student athletes, but the coaches, parents, officials; there was really no alternative ending possible.  It was going to be something great because they all put something great into it, at every event.

Each season the talent level increases exponentially.  At each event this season, there was an average of just over 100 golfers of which 10% of golfers scored under par.  Each student not only learns the valuable individual skills and discipline, but competing under pressure in singles competitive golf. The team format gives them the pride of representing their school and helps them to learn to work as a cohesive group to overcome setbacks, and accomplish a common goal. This certainly will prepare them for the next level(s) of competitive golf, it also is laying the foundations to prepare them for whatever the future may have in store for them.

The International School Golf Tour has now been running for four years, this year it comprised of 11 events all over Thailand, I would personally thank all the students and schools for their support throughout the year. A special congratulations for Shrewsbury International School our Nett Team Champions and American School the Gross Team Champions.”   He continued, “Moving forward to next season the schedule is set and are looking forward to another great season, with our main goal being to enhance the students experience continuing to prepare them to be in the best position possible for their golf future.”
